Forgacs through its parent company Civmec is delighted it has been selected to play a key role in the construction of ten of Australia's new Offshore Patrol Vessels (OPVs), an important element of Australia's future naval needs.

This decision to involve Civmec in the construction of the OPVs underpins the company's commitment to invest in the construction of a new state-of-the-art shipbuilding facility at its Henderson base in Western Australia.

Civmec Chairman, James Fitzgerald said, "I congratulate Luerssen on being the chosen designer and prime contractor for the project. We look forward to continuing our working relationship with them over the coming months to offer the Commonweath a solution that maxmises the efficiencies of Civmec's proven expertise in manufacturing integrated complex steel structures."

Construction is scheduled to begin in Western Australia in 2020 and is expected to create hundreds of jobs at our Henderson facilities and will underpin our yard for the next decade and beyond.

We will update the market on the financial details of the project after the commercial negotiations with Luerssen conclude.
