It’s also associated with the Irish legend that St. Patrick drove all the snakes out of Ireland.

History of St. Patrick’s Day

St. Patrick’s Day is a holiday that centers around Irish culture, but you don’t have to be Irish to celebrate it. In fact, St. Patrick’s didn’t actually celebrate his feast day on March 17. He’s actually rumored to have lived and died in the fifth century, so the holiday has stuck around for 1,500 years. So, where should you celebrate St. Patrick’s Day? There are dozens of Irish-themed celebrations held around the U.S. each year, most featuring Irish food, music, and, of course, green beer. But one of the best places to start is with one of these 50 Best Irish Bars in America.

Australians also celebrate St. Patrick’s Day, just like the Americans. March 13 is the anniversary of the day- supposedly- St Patrick died, so this occasion is also probably more familiar to them than to us. Parades, shamrocks, St Patrick’s Day costumes,  and dancing mark the celebration. St Patrick’s Day parades are held in cities and towns throughout the country. The parades are colorful displays of traditional Irish dancing, live music, and comedy.

Although St. Patrick’s Day is observed on March 17 every year, Australia also celebrates it. St Patrick’s Day is an official public holiday in Australia. It is celebrated by the various Irish descendants who live in Australia. St Patrick, the patron saint of Ireland, is remembered as a man who walked for 300 miles on a journey to convert the pagans to Christianity.
